A semi and SUV collided on Eastbound I-70 at the Brownstown/Bluff City interchange Friday morning.

State police report the SUV driven by 36-year-old Larry Osborne II of Collinsville, for an unknown reason, drove onto the right shoulder of the roadway and struck the rear of the semi driven by 38-year-old Nathan Schmitt of Summerfield. Schmitt had parked the rig on the shoulder to check whether his load was secured.

Osborne was injured and was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what were termed non-life threatening injuries. Schmitt refused medical attention.

Osborne was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, no proof of insurance, failure to wear a seat belt, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

The crash was reported at 6:41am.
