Governor JB Pritzker is announcing several resources for Illinoisans struggling during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

State Department of Human Services Secretary Grace Hou says SNAP benefits are being extended.

“With the recent passage of the federal “Families First” legislation monthly SNAP benefits will increase dramatically, in some cases over 90-percent a month.

Governor Pritzker says stipends will be available for child care providers serving the families of essential workers.

“We will now be providing each of the providers who stepped up in this time of need with an additional stipend.  $750 each for licensed home, $2,000 each for centers running one or two classrooms and $3,000 each for those running three or more classrooms.”

Efforts to help the homeless also are being increased.
