Brownstown Board Fills Vacancy

Brownstown school board members filled a vacancy on the Board at Monday's meeting. Robert Miller is the new member of the Board. Miller succeeds Randy Mason, who resigned from the Board.

The Board also renewed membership in the IHSA for the coming school year; renewed the intergovernmental purchasing agreement with SEPCO for the coming year; and agreed to offer Spanish I through Illinois Virtual High School for the coming school year.

Board members approved non-tenure teachers for next year, including Julie Johnson, Patricia Booher, Danyele Boaz, Christa Malone, Lori Mette, Morgan Pals, Kelsey Seidel, Kayla Carson, Amy Disch, Emily Miller, Rebecca Nail, and also approved Jessica Sefton and Kayla Hingson, who gained tenure status.

The Board employed non-certified personnel, including custodians Evelyn Wells and Rhonda Gehle; Maintenance/Custodians Steve Waltrip and Brad Koonce; cooks Alyssa Tompkins and Nikki Sidwell; secretaries Brittany Rigdon and Shelly Thomason; teacher aides Verla Reed, Stacy Sidwell, Brenda Wilson, Stacey Summers, Stephanie Montgomery and Deirdre Murray; bus drivers Paul Parkison, David Portz, Sam Kistler and Richard Cade; nurse Shannon Zerrusen; district bookkeeper/secretary/treasurer Jacy Schaub; and district transportation secretary Deb Hunter.

In other personnel items, the Brownstown board hired Martin Gibson as a high school English teacher, Janalyn Hennon as a second grade teacher, and Keri Nugent as a junior high Special Education teacher. 

Also, the Board accepted a letter of retirement from Diana Smith effective the end of the current school year; accepted a letter of resignation from Jordyn Sussenbach as of the end of the school year; employed Kelsey Seidel as high school boys track coach; approved Monica Wilhour and Judy Rine as volunteer junior high track coaches, and approved Monica Wilhour as volunteer high school track coach.
