By the request of the Illinois Department of Aging, C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation Meals on Wheels program will temporarily close their congregate nutrition centers starting Friday, March 13 because older adults are among the highest risk population group for becoming seriously ill from the COVID-19 (coronavirus). This is a statewide mandate request.

C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels program will continue to provide home delivered meals. Those seniors that attend a congregate site have the opportunity to pick up a meal or request to have a meal delivered.

C.E.F.S. provides the Meals on Wheels program in Clay, Effingham. Fayette, Christian, and Montgomery counties. For questions please call 217 342 2193 ext. 119 or your nearest C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels center.

In an abundance of caution during the Covid-19 outbreak, the Illinois Department on Aging has decided to temporarily restrict all senior nutrition program sites in Illinois to Carry-Out Only. Clients who usually have lunch at Peace Meal sites are welcome to stop by the site and pick up their meal to go. Reservations will be made as usual. Peace Meal clients who enjoy their meals in local restaurants are also required to take their meal to go. Clients who receive their Peace Meals through home delivery will continue to receive them in this manner. If you have questions, please contact your congregate site or call 800-543-1770.
