Woman Fatally Injured After Deer Strikes Vehicle

A person was killed Tuesday afternoon in Clay County in a crash involving a deer, a car and a school bus.
The crash happened at 4:25pm on US Route 50 at Juniper Road. State police report a deer entered onto the roadway. The school bus driven by 72-year-old Lawrence Northrop of Flora, containing no passengers, struck the deer, causing it to go airborne into the other lane of traffic. A car driven by 53-year-old Samuel Kerrick of Salem struck the deer, which came through the windshield of the car.
A passenger in the car, 42-year-old Bridget Kerrick of Salem, was injured and was taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora, where she died of her injuries. Samuel Kerrick was treated at the hospital for what were termed minor injuries.
No citations were issued.
