The Dieterich Board of Education Monday finalized an agreement with the Village of Dieterich regarding Tax Increment Financing dollars.

TIF districts claim the increase in tax dollars and use them for improvement projects within the districts.

The school board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the village that will allow an annual payment of up to $15,000 to the district from TIF District #1 in Dieterich. The funds help defray tax dollars that would normally go to the various taxing bodies, but instead are retained in the TIF district.

The Dieterich board Monday also:

--renewed membership in the IHSA for the coming school year

--renewed a subscription for next year for Teacher Ease, the district's student data management system

--accepted a donation from Christ's Church for allowing the congregation to use school facilities

--renewed catastrophic student insurance with AIG

--renewed voluntary student insurance with Guarantee Trust Life Insurance at no cost to the District

--approved a technology upgrade with Quality Network Solutions that includes new servers, desktop computers and mobile Chromebook labs

--approved the purchase of Elevate Elementary Science curriculum for the upcoming school year

--heard from Junior/Senior High School Principal Scott Kocher regarding plans for additional dual credit offerings. The Board agreed to assist with the cost of offering dual credit courses through Lake Land College.

District Superintendent Cary Jackson reported about the Safe 2 Help program to be implemented this fall. Safe 2 Help is a program to raise awareness of 21st Century threats facing school children in Illinois. It is designed in Jackson's words to "offer a safe, confidential way to share information that might help prevent suicide, bullying, school violence or other threats to school safety."
