For the first time in two years, the Lake Land College Board of Trustees will consider a tuition increase for academic year 2020-2021.

The board will meet Monday, March 9 at 6 p.m. in the Board and Administration Center on campus.

“Lake Land College is committed to delivering a high quality education to our students, while remaining one of the most affordable educational options in the state of Illinois. As the college has begun planning for the fiscal year 2021 budget, we are working diligently to balance our commitment to sustaining the value of a Lake Land College education, with the uncertainties surrounding state and local funding,” Lake Land College President Josh Bullock said.

“Although Lake Land College’s tuition rate has not increased since summer 2018, we believe a modest increase of $5 per credit hour for academic year 2020-2021 will assist the college in maintaining the quality education our students have come to expect, while addressing the budget uncertainties,” he added.

In-district tuition for one credit hour will go from $105.50 to $110.50 effective with the summer term. There will be no increases in student fees. Fees, including textbook rental, are $32.17 per credit hour. An average student enrolls in 30 credit hours per year, putting tuition, fees and textbook rental for one year at $4,280.10.

Between fiscal years 2015 and 2019, Lake Land College tuition and fees remained in the bottom quartile when compared to all other community colleges in the state, according to data gathered by the Illinois Community College Board.
