Building Damaged by Vehicle Saturday Morning

The building of a local business was damaged when struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at 1:26am when a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Charles Spence of Effingham ran off the roadway and struck and damaged an Ameren Illinois guide wire and pole at 801 E. Fayette. The vehicle then crossed the road and pulled into the driveway of 800A E. Fayette and struck and damaged a building owned by Tick Tock Energy.

No one was injured in the incident. Spence was cited for DUI, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

City police also released details on a crash in Effingham on Thursday during the noon hour, where both drivers were injured.

The crash happened at Mulberry and St. Anthony at 12:19pm. A vehicle driven by 24-year-old Krista Stuart of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Jon Dust of Teutopolis. Both drivers sustained injuries, but both refused treatment.

No citations were issued.
