Teutopolis village board members have voted to contribute $500 to the National Road Association of Illinois.

The money was requested from all Association member communities after the Association did not receive hoped-for grant funds.

The Association promotes the National Road (Route 40 through this area) and the communities along the route. The National Road was the first Federally-funded roadway through this part of the United States and was authorized by President Thomas Jefferson. Each of the Association member communities has an informational kiosk along the route. The Teutopolis kiosk is next to the village hall.

The Teutopolis board also approved paying two invoices totaling $6,600.11 for engineering work on the Pearl Street sidewalk project and on streets in Prairie View Subdivision.
