Former Michigan Woman Found Dead in Local Apartment

A former Michigan resident was found dead in an Effingham apartment Monday morning.

Effingham City Police Department responded to a residence at 7:37am regarding an  unresponsive female. Abbott EMS also responded and found the woman. The Effingham County Coroner's Office was notified and responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.

The woman was identified as 52-year-old Cynthia Kissiar, originally from Buchanan, Michigan.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said an initial investigation indicated there is no foul play involved, but an autopy is scheduled for Thursday at 9am to determine the cause of death. The Effingham City Police Department Patrol and Detective Sections assisted in the investigation.

An investigation continues by the Coroner's Office.
