Two people were injured in a crash Sunday night on the interstate outside Effingham.

The crash happened at 10:21pm, a mile south of the Fayette Avenue interchange. State police report a car driven by 27-year-old Marrisa Peppers of St. Louis skidded and struck a concrete barrier on the right side of the roadway.

Peppers and a passenger, 27-year-old Brittany Harris of Dayton, Ohio, were transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effigham.

Peppers was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
