A lottery was held Thursday to determine ballot position in the Republican primary election for Effingham County Coroner.
Both incumbent Kim Rhodes and challenger Gerry Kingery were on hand when the filing period opened in November, meaning a lottery would be necessary to decide who got the top spot on the ballot.
Rhodes will get first position, and Kingery will get second position.
Rhodes and Kingery were the finalists in the 2018 Coroner election, with Rhodes winning by a narrow margin.
The primary election will be held on March 17, 2020 to decide the nominees for the November 25, 2020 election.
