Fire totaled a mobile home on the south edge of Beecher City Monday evening.
The fire happened around 4pm at the home of Zeb Lilly at 17899 North 100th Street. No one was home at the time of the fire. A neighbor notified 911 and telecommunicators summoned Tri-County Fire Protection District firefighters. Firefighters were on scene within six minutes of being called. Tri-County Fire Chief Doug Ray said the cause of the fire is not known, but space heaters could have played a part. Ray said there was smoke coming out of the mobile home when they reached the scene and flames inside the structure. He considered the structure a total loss.
Shumway Fire Protection District firefighters assisted Tri-County firefighters at the scene. Ray said Cowden firefighters were bringing a tanker, but he called them off en route. Firefighters were able to clear the scene about 5:30pm.
