Using the latest technology and innovations in communications, State Senator Kyle McCarter will start meeting with constituents beginning today in Vandalia and Greenville.
The virtual office hours will incorporate video and computer technology to allow a person to talk with and see the Senator in real time.
Sen. McCarter said the new virtual office hours are in addition to office hours at his Vandalia district office, which is open weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm at 310 Gallatin in Vandalia.
McCarter said idea is to expand and increase communication with constituents across a geographically large district that time and distance might normally prohibit.
McCarter said when possible he hopes to be at the satellite locations in person. However, when the Senate is in session-like today-or when his schedule does not allow travel, he will be sending a member of his office to set up and conduct the videoconference using a computer.
The location and regularly scheduled times for Effingham County will be the first and third Thursdays from 9-11am at the Effingham County Farm Bureau office at 1102 West Evergreen in Effingham.
