Charleston Man Arrested on Bribery Charge

Mattoon city police have arrested a Charleston man on an active Coles County warrant for Bribery.

41-year-old Joshua D. Foss was arrested just after 1pm Monday.

The charge alleges that throughout late April through early June of this year, Foss had contact with a juror from a previous Coles County court case and attempted to bribe the juror to assist in overturning a guilty verdict. The case was a DUI the juror had served on.

Foss' arrest is part of a continuing investigation into the DUI trial of Christopher Whitley, where a guilty verdict was ruled a mistrial. The verdict was later reinstated.

Foss is being held at Coles County Jail.
