Things are not completed, but progress is being made on the disposal of the former library building in Effingham.

The Effingham Public Library Board was updated Monday on the status of the talks. Library Director Amanda McKay said there are a number of entities involved in the talks, and said no action could be taken, but said things are progressing.

The former library home on Market Avenue has been empty since the move to the current location on 3rd Street downtown.

Also Monday, the library board continued their annual practice of granting a day of comp time for each current library employee as a Christmas gift, and also approved updates to their volunteer policy. The changes involved language updates and training and supervisor authority.

The Board agreed to cancel their December meeting, learned that the application has been submitted for a per capita grant from the State Librarian's Office, and heard that the annual "to-do" list will be available for the January meeting.
