One Killed, One Injured in Crash Wednesday Morning on the "S" Curves

One person was killed and another person was injured in a collision Wednesday morning in the "S" curves on US Route 40, west of Effingham.
Illinois State Police report 19-year-old Seth Reeves of St.Elmo was fatally injured in the crash, while 41-year-old Christy Wickline of Neoga was injured.
Police say Reeves was traveling east when his car drove into the westbound lane of traffic, striking Wickline's vehicle in the front. Reeves' car was struck on the passenger side.
Reeves was pronounced dead at the scene, while Wickline was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of what were termed severe injuries.
Both Reeves and Wickline required extrication from their vehicles.
The crash happened at 8:34am. US Route 40 was closed for much of the morning while law enforcement and emergency services crews handled the crash.
