Missouri Man Injured in Crash on Interstate Near Neoga

An Essex, Missouri, man was injured in a crash early Monday morning near Neoga.

The crash occurred at 4:31am on I-57 northbound, two miles north of Neoga.  State police say 33-year-old Joseph Marrs lost control of his car, which ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

Marrs was injured and was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment. 

Marrs was arrested on counts of DUI, improper lane usage, not wearing a seat belt, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, improper use of registration, and illegal transportation of alcohol. 

Authorities are also investigating a loaded handgun found in the vehicle.
