2019 Effingham County Old Settlers Reunion is This Saturday

The 2019 Effingham County Old Settlers Reunion is this Saturday.

Activities are planned on the Courthouse Museum square in downtown Effingham, with activities planned from 11am to 3pm, and everyone's invited.

Presentation of the Colors by Effingham American Legion Post #120 will kick off activities at 11am. There will be free face painting by Jennifer DeWeese, free mule wagon rides courtesy of Dan Koester, and free photos at the cannon courtesy of the Effingham Tourism Office.

Music is planned from 11am to 1pm by the Chuck Wagon Gang. Tractors will be on display by the Mill Road Thresherman's Association, and the Caledonia fire engine from the 1949 St. Anthony Hospital fire will be on display courtesy of the Effingham Retired Volunteer Firefighter Association.

There will be historical displays and free water, cookies and popcorn. Free museum coloring books will be available for the kids. There will also be a medical display.

You can register to win the "Whose Hat is That?" contest with someone winning a $50 prize.

Other prizes will be awarded for Oldest Female Settler, Youngest Female Settler, Oldest Male Settler, Youngest Male Settler and Old Settler Couple married the longest.

You are an Old Settler if you have resided in Effingham County for 30 or more years.

You will also be able to renew your Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Association membership for 2020.
