Dieterich village board members this week hired Utz and Associates Architects of Effingham to do design work on Liberty Memorial Park Pavilion.

The plan is to expand the open air part of the pavilion, and to make restroom improvements. The existing men's and women's restrooms will be combined into an expanded women's restroom, and then a new men's restroom will be constructed.

The Board hired Elizabeth Abbott as a part-time, temporary maintenance employee; and approved an amended ordinance regarding operation of non-highway vehicles within the village limits. The amendment clarifies that only golf carts and side-by-side vehicles under certain parameters can be used within the village limits. The units must undergo a safety inspection and pay a $50 permit fee.

Dieterich board members also discussed Dieterich Cemetery renovations. The replacement of footings for the headstones is about one-third complete. The next section to be repaired is the southeast section.
