Two cars collided in the southeast part of Effingham County Monday afternoon, resulting in three people being taken for treatment.

The crash occurred at 2:27pm on 1600th Street at 400th Avenue, in Union Township. According to Effingham County Sheriff's Department, a car driven by 18-year-old Zoey Duff of Flora was northbound on 1600th and a car driven by 69-year-old Harvey Stortzum of Effingham was westbound on 400th. Deputies report Duff failed to yield to Stortzum at the intersection and struck Stortzum's vehicle in the driver's side rear. Stortzum's car spun out of control off the road and overturned, coming to rest upright in a soybean field. Duff's car spun around and left the road, coming to rest upright in the ditch.

Duff was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

Two passengers in Duff's vehicle were injured. 17-year-old Ivy Russell of Flora was airlifted from the scene to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield. 17-year-old Carl Cosner of Flora was taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony's.
