Altamont school board members have given their approval an "Orange and Black" proposal for the district.

The high school colors have long been orange and black. Under this proposal, the grade school colors will also transition to orange and black from the red and white now in use.

Altamont Superintendent Steve Mayerhofer said the project will create a uniform color scheme throughout the district.

The project will also be incorporated at no additional cost; Mayerhofer said the current uniforms will be replaced with orange and black uniforms as new uniforms are needed. The grade school will be painted in orange and black as a part of routine maintenance.

One thing won't change; Mayerhofer said the grade school sports teams will still be known as the Wildcats.

The Altamont board also: approved the budget for the new fiscal year

--approved the resignation of Courtnie Mullen as district technology coordinator and hired Lori Grimsley to succeed her
