After almost 25 years with Premier Broadcasting and an even longer career than that in broadcasting, our Kenna Stewart has announced her retirement.

Kenna's last day on the air will be Tuesday, September 17. She will be on vacation next week, but will be back on Monday and Tuesday of the following week to formally wrap up her broadcasting career.

Kenna began in radio by obtaining her degree from Lake Land College, then broadcast in the Charleston area before joining 979XFM and KJ Country 102.3 in 1996. She also spent many years working for World Color Press along the way, and also worked in retail.

Radio has been her first love, though. Kenna has served in a variety of roles here; running ballgames, working evenings as well as mornings, doing countless remote broadcasts from a variety of locations, and has worked hard as our Promotions Director for several years, sending many of you on some great vacations and to concerts and other events.

Kenna and husband Steve Stewart plan to continue traveling, one of their great passions, while also caring for their dog Freddy.

We are planning an Open House for Kenna on her final day on the air, Tuesday, September 17, from 9am to 1pm. It'll be an opportunity to let Kenna know you have appreciated her years of service to the Effingham area.

Thanks, Kenna, for a job well done! We will miss you!
