The Effingham County Board Wednesday awarded a bid for copiers for County offices.

21 units will be acquired from GFI Digital at a total cost of $76,784.42. The units are to be in place by mid-October.

The Board had been ready earlier to award a bid to another vendor, but before the vote took place, the vendor said their quote was incorrect and needed to submit a more expensive bid. Board members decided to reject the bid and instead voted unanimously to go with GFI.

Board members also amended the Coroner Fund in the County budget to reflect the purchase of a vehicle. The amount is $29,998. The new vehicle will replace a unit totaled in a three-vehicle crash earlier this year on the Teutopolis frontage road.

County Coroner Kim Rhodes said a special fund in her office's budget will cover the balance of the vehicle cost not covered by insurance. Rhodes said the action did not increase her budget, it only reflects the amount of the expenditure. She added that the new vehicle will be purchased locally.
