No Suspicious Activity Noted in Dairy Bar Fire

An investigation conducted by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office and the Altamont Fire Protection District has shown the cause of the August 26 fire at Schultz's Dairy Bar to be undetermined.

Altamont Fire Protection District Chief Jon Becker said the fire was located in the burner area of a stove located in the south kitchen of the building. 

Damage was limited to the stove with some smoke damage to other areas. Becker said the stove was operational, but had not been in operation.

The pilot light on the burner cannot be ruled out as an ignition source.

Becker said no suspicious activity was noted.
