Former Effingham resident Jamie Jarrett has died. He was 41 years old.

Jamie, the son of Jim and Robin Jarrett, died Wednesday morning at a hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, where he lived with his wife and two young children. Internal bleeding was the cause of death. Jarrett had been in the hospital for more than two weeks.

Jarrett was a former St. Louis Cardinals baseball employee. His passing was mentioned by broadcaster Dan McLaughlin during the Cardinals television broadcast Wednesday night and McLaughlin noted the help Jarrett had been to him during his time with the Cardinals.

Funeral services for Jamie will be Monday morning, August 26, at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City, with visitation from 3-6pm Sunday at the church. Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City is assisting the family with arrangements.
