State Crop Report for Week Ending August 18

There were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois during the week ending August 18.

Statewide, the average temperature was 75 degrees, 1.1 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.55 inches, 0.66 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 11% very short, 40% short, 47% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 9% very short, 33% short, 57% adequate, and 1% surplus. 

Corn silking was at 96%. Corn dough was at 55%, compared to 93% last year and 88% for the five-year average. Corn dented was at 12%, compared to 60% last year and 43% for the five-year average. Corn condition was 4% very poor, 15% poor, 39% fair, 37% good, and 5% excellent.

Soybeans blooming was at 89%. Soybeans setting pods was at 67%, compared to 94% last year and 88% for the five-year average. Soybean condition was 5% very poor, 15% poor, 40% fair, 34% good, and 6% excellent.
