Online Reports False: No Active Shooter at Effingham's Walmart

Effingham's Walmart has been the source of multiple false online reports Tuesday, claiming a shooting had taken place at the store. 

The Effingham Police Department released a statement Tuesday evening indicating that there was no active shooter at the store, and that reports to that effect were incorrect.

A separate Facebook post (below) shared hundreds of times Tuesday indicates a threat of violence against the store. Police confirmed to us Tuesday evening that there is additional security at the store, but that no specific threat of violence or shooting has taken place.

As always, officials ask that if you "see something, say something".
