Jackie Joyner-Kersee Grand Marshal for State Fair Parade

Olympic gold medal winner Jackie Joyner-Kersee will serve as Grand Marshal for the Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade Thursday.

The retired American track and field athlete won three gold medals and is ranked among the all-time greatest athletes in the heptathlon as well as long jump.

Admission to the fairgrounds Thursday is five dollars for adults, three dollars for those 60 and better, and free for kids 12 and younger. All carnival rides, including those in Adventure Village, will be open by 5pm and offered at a discounted price.

Following the parade, a free concert will be offered in the grandstand. Montgomery Gentry will perform around 8pm following the conclusion of the parade. No concert tickets are necessary, and seating will be general admission.

This year's fair will run from August 8-18 in Springfield.
