Statewide, the average temperature was 66.2 degrees, 5.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.48 inches, 0.50 inches above normal.
Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 36 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent short, 57 percent adequate, and 41 percent surplus.
Corn planted was at 88 percent, compared to 100 percent for both last year and 5-year average. Corn emerged was at 74 percent. Corn condition was 4 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 6 percent excellent.
Soybeans planted was at 70 percent, compared to 99 percent last year and the 5-year average of 95 percent. Soybeans emerged was at 50 percent.
Winter wheat headed reached 97 percent. Winter wheat harvested was 6 percent, compared to 26 percent for last year and 21 percent for the 5-year average. Winter wheat condition was rated at 8 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 45 percent fair, 29 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.
