(STEVE MILLER AND JEREMY HEUERMAN)

Effingham City Director of Public Works Jeremy Heuerman has been awarded Employee of the Year as a part of the City’s Employee Recognition Program. Three other employees were nominated for the award: Police Lt. Jason Caraway, Assistant Fire Chief Matt Kulesza and Operations Manager Chris Huelsbusch.

The Employee of the Year Award recognizes an employee who earned Employee of the Quarter for demonstrating either distinguished or extraordinary service during the fiscal quarter or other accomplishments that typically go unnoticed, but are worthy of recognition.

City officials said Heuerman was awarded this honor because he has performed above and beyond expectations over this past year. Heuerman worked independently to achieve project completion on the Haney Street Railroad project. This project took a considerable amount of time and effort and will allow the City the opportunity to receive Quiet Zone status in the future.

The letter of nomination states "Heuerman has also managed a very busy year with plan commission projects, while completing the capitol projects that were planned this fiscal year. He’s also participated in the City’s new software upgrades all while preparing next year’s budget. Heuerman also provides any and all information needed for economic development projects and has the City’s best interest in mind at all times. His hard work and efforts are greatly appreciated over this past year."

The City appreciates citizens' continued participation in Effingham's Employee Recognition Program. If you notice a City employee going above and beyond to serve you, please let them know by calling City Hall at 217-342-5300, emailing jkemper@effinghamil.com or by using the Effingham Connection App.
