The Beecher City Board of Education has hired Brian Deadmond as the next junior-senior high school principal.

Deadmond comes to Beecher City from the North Clay school district, where he has been serving as assistant principal, athletic director and transportation coordinator the past two years.

Deadmond succeeds Phil Lark as principal. Lark is moving up to the superintendent's post at Beecher City, succeeding Scott Cameron. Cameron is headed to the Pawnee School District as superintendent, effective July 1.

The Beecher City board also voted to amend the budget for the current fiscal year, and approved a joint agreement with Eastern Illinois Area Special Education for the coming school year.

Board members also approved non-certified staff raises.
