Ameren Seeks Gas Rate Hike

The 813,000 downstate homes and businesses who get their natural gas from Ameren Illinois would see their bills rise as much as $4/month under a rate increase the company is seeking.

The company has told the Illinois Commerce Commission it needs the added $50 million in revenue to recover costs from upgrades to its system to assure its financial stability. 

Rates were increased a year ago.  If approved, this rate hike wouldn't take effect before late December.
