Mia Totten, first-year (Rookie) member of the Illinois Junior Rodeo Association, competed in the District II two-day rodeo series in Monticello this past weekend.

The IJRA has three districts throughout Illinois with a two-day rodeo being held in each of the districts and a qualifying State finals in August.

Mia competes in the K-2 division in the areas of Barrels, Pole Bending, and Goat Flanking. At the conclusion of the two-day rodeo series, an awards ceremony is held for all individuals that earned Top 5 in each of their divisions and an All-Around Cowgirl and an All-Around cowboy are named.

Mia, alongside her horse Hammer, earned Champion Goat Flanker, 3rd place in Pole Bending, 5th place in Barrels and the coveted All-Around Cowgirl title. She received two belt buckles, a hay bag, and an IJRA lettered brush.

Mia's next rodeo series will be held July 5-6 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. She is the seven-year-old daughter of Ty and Mandy Totten.
