The Effingham Public Library reports its circulation has increased for the 12th straight year. This past year’s circulation was 269,690, an increase of 6.4%.

The most popular items for the library continue to be the book and DVD collections, although this past year the library experienced a 19% increase in its Blu-Ray usage and 6.6% increase in its eBook checkouts.

As a member of the Illinois Heartland Library system, Effingham Public Library also experienced a 21% increase in items shared with other libraries.

“One key to this sustained increase has been the attention that staff has given to continually refreshing collections and purchasing duplicate copies to respond to demand. We’re very excited that the community continues to utilize, read and watch all that we have to offer,” Johnna Schultz, Assistant Director explained.
