4.1 inches of rain fell in Effingham during a storm Wednesday night.

Streets were flooded throughout town, with the storm water finally able to subside later Wednesday night. There was damage to power poles along Rickelman Avenue on Effingham's north side.

There were reports of a tornado in the area. Garrett Stanfield sent us this photo of possible tornadic activity. This cloud fortunately did not touch down...

We also have many additional listener-submitted photos on our Facebook page.

Vandalia Airport suffered significant damage, with a hangar blown over and planes scattered across the tarmac.

Ironically, after several days of reports of possible strong storms, the National Weather Service predicted a quarter inch to a half inch of rain for Thursday evening.

There are no reports of injuries from Thursday night's storm.
