(THE LAKE LAND COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONORED OUTGOING TRUSTEE ANN DETERS OF EFFINGHAM AT MONDAY NIGHT'S MEETING. DETERS HAS SUBMITTED HER RESIGNATION AS A TRUSTEE. BOARD CHAIRMAN DORIS REYNOLDS {left} PRESENTED DETERS AN AWARD IN RECOGNITION OF HER SERVICE)

Ann Deters of Effingham has resigned from the Lake Land College Board of Trustees.

The resignation was accepted by the Board at Monday night's meeting.

Deters was elected to the Board in 2015 for a six-year term. In her resignation letter to Lake Land College Board Chair Doris Reynolds, Deters cited that other commitments have become too great for her to be able to continue at the level she feels is warranted of the trustee position. She said since that's the case, it's in the college's best interests that she resign.

Those interested in filling Deters' seat may submit written materials to Lake Land College Office of the President, Attn: Jean Anne Grunloh, Senior Executive to the President, 5001 Lake Land Blvd., Mattoon, IL 61938 by May 28. The following materials should be submitted: reason for seeking the appointment, qualifications and experience in other areas that may enhance public policy or decision making. Eligibility requirements are: US citizenship, 18 years of age or older, a resident of Illinois for one year immediately preceding the election, and a resident of Community College District #517 for one year immediately preceding the election.

The Board will vote on the replacement at the June 10 meeting that will be held in Mattoon. The individual selected will take his or her seat at the July 15 Board meeting.

The individual selected by the Board to fill the vacancy will serve until the next consolidated election in April of 2021.
