Sheriff's Department Investigating Death Near Effingham Tuesday

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a local woman at a residence in Camelot Subdivision Tuesday morning.

Authorities were called at 9:54am regarding the death of 81-year-old Patricia Holt. A gunshot was reportedly involved in the incident.

Deputies were assisted by the Effingham Police Department, Shumway First Responders, Effingham County Coroner's Office, Abbott EMS, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.

An autopsy will be conducted Thursday to help determine the cause of death.
