The defense counsel in a Clark County murder case is indicating he would seek a delay in the start of the trial.

24-year-old Connor Scott is charged in the October 31, 2014 death of Kaylyn Whitaker at a residence outside Martinsville. Police say Scott contacted them earlier this year that he had committed the murder.

During a pre-trial hearing Wednesday, defense attorney William McGrath indicated he would seek a delay in the trial beyond its scheduled May 14 start date. McGrath said he might instead seek an August trial date.

The case is next due in court the morning of May 8, when the question of the trial date will likely be addressed.

Scott is being held in Clark County Jail under $1 million bond.
