Details are in on the Tuesday morning crash south of Altamont that resulted in three people being injured.

The crash happened on the Altamont/Farina Blacktop, a quarter-mile south of 800th Avenue near the Altamont FS Plant, at 7:20am.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Benjamin Wharton of Mason was headed north, while a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Todd Siebert of Altamont was traveling southbound. Deputies say Wharton turned to go into the FS parking lot and struck the Siebert vehicle. Siebert's vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The collision knocked down the pole and left power lines on the roadway. Crews from Southwestern Electric Cooperative were called to the scene to make repairs.

Wharton and Siebert were injured in the crash, as was Siebert's passenger, 40-year-old Scott Deaton of Hillsboro. Siebert and Deaton were both transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, while Wharton refused treatment.

Wharton was cited for failure to yield when turning left.
