Cumberland Board Swears In Officers, Loses a Member

Cumberland school board members have chosen new officers for the coming term.

Bob Blade was chosen board president, Wes Chambers was selected as vice president, and Pam Ross was chosen secretary.

The members elected to the Board earlier this month...Steve Layton, Howard Markwell and Pam Ross...were sworn into office. Cumberland High school 10th grader and Student Council member Jaycob Archer was tapped to administer the oath of office to the newly elected board members.

Meanwhile, the Board will begin a search for a new member.

Long-time member Jack Ingram has resigned as a member of the Cumberland board. The Board members voted to publicly advertise seeking applications for the vacancy on the board.

The Cumberland board accepted an irrevocable letter of retirement at the end of the 2020-2021 school year from Ed Blome, and voted to accept the resignation of Wendy Peters as high school cheerleading coach.

The Board voted to advertise these coaching positions as open for the coming school year...high school head and assistant volleyball coach, high school assistant football coach, high school head cross country coach, high school assistant wrestling coach, high school assistant girls basketball coach, high school boys assistant basketball coach, high school dance coach, high school cheerleading coach, middle school assistant boys basketball coach, middle school assistant baseball coach, middle school assistant softball coach and middle school head and assistant volleyball coaches.

Cumberland board members heard that Baccaleaureate will be held on Sunday, May 19 at 2pm with graduation to follow at 3pm. It was also shared that Kindergarten registration and screening will be held on May 23, at Toledo Christian Church, from 1 to 7pm.
