Voters in Fayette County approved a 1% sales tax on certain purchases in the April election. South Central school board members voted at this week's meeting to approve the sales tax agreement. The district will receive funds that can be used on new construction and renovation projects. That includes helping retire bonds that have been issued to finance previous projects.
The South Central board approved having South Central Elementary School annexed into the village of Kinmundy in a joint venture with the Webster family. The Board also approved the annual Athletic survey regarding sports offered in the district.
Results of the Evidence Based Funding Summary were discussed, as were steps that could be taken to make the district further compliant to qualify for additional funding. The district is currently funded at a 65% adequacy rate.
Board members hired Dakota Koehnke as a high school Math teacher and Amy Wilkins as a middle school Special Ed teacher. Kyli Holmes was approved as a middle school Cheer coach for the coming school year. Letters of resignation were accepted from Connie Githinji and Crystal Russell, as of the end of the current school year. Leaves were approved for Patrina Boone, Karen Sauter, Mindy Shoemaker and Stacy Kuhring.
