Details On Crashes Earlier This Week

Effingham city police released information Thursday on two crashes that occurred earlier this week.

One crash occurred at 4:45pm Monday at 3rd and Rickelman. Police report a vehicle driven by 72-year-old David Penner of Fullarton, Ontario, Canada rear-ended a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Jeffrey Bushur of Sigel, causing Bushur's vehicle to rear-end a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Kami Mason of Effingham.

A passenger in Mason's vehicle, eight-year-old Evan Mason of Effingham was injured, but declined treatment. 

Penner was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

The other crash occurred at 7:49am Tuesday at Richland and Henrietta. Police report a bicycle ridden by 14-year-old Nicholas Eggers of Effingham struck a trailer being pulled by a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Daniel Hoyer of Beecher City.

Eggers was injured and was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.
