Local Jobless Rate for February Unchanged from Year Ago

The Illinois Department of Employment Security reported that non-farm employment in the county increased by 200 compared to last year.
Employment gains were posted in Government (+200), Manufacturing (+200), and Educational and Health Services (+100).
Employment in Professional and Business Services (-100) and Wholesale Trade (-100) declined.
Area counties and their February jobless rates:
Coles--5%, up from 4.8% a year earlier
Cumberland--5.1%, up from 4.7%
Shelby--4.9%, up from 4.7%
Clay--6%, up from 5.7%
Fayette--6.3%, up from 6.2%
Jasper--5.9%, up from 5.8%
The Illinois jobless rate for February was 4.7%, down from 4.9% one year earlier.
