Cumberland school board members heard about E-Rate financing and the CEO program at this month's meeting.

Cumberland Superintendent Todd Butler updated the Board concerning E-Rate, which has helped finance things such as WI-FI, firewalls and network upgrades. The District is looking at a different Internet provider, and using E-Rate could be an option.

Cumberland High School Guidance Counselor Sheila Plummer shared information on CEO, Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities, which will begin next school year. The two-credit course, which involves two class periods each day, gives students the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and to develop skills necessary in the working world and the real world. During the first semester, the students will run their own business. The students will present their products and services at a trade show at the end of the school year.

In regular business, the Cumberland board agreed to employ Jill Mathenia, Jacob Edwards and Samantha Rogers as tenured teachers for next school year, and non-tenured teachers for next school year. The Board accepted the resignation of Carrie Althoff as of March 29, agreed to employ Kristie Thomas and Maria White as teachers, and Christie Boswell as a paraprofessional.
