One Injured in Crash in Summit Township

One person was injured in a crash in Summit Township on Friday afternoon.

61-year-old David W. Wendte of Effingham was one of two drivers involved in the crash at the intersection of Illinois Routes 32 and 33 at 1:13pm.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Nicholas Crear of Effingham was westbound on Route 33, in the turn lane to turn north onto Route 32. Crear, though, continued through the turn lane and struck Wendte's vehicle, which was stopped southbound at the stop sign.

Wendte was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Crear was cited for leaving the scene of the crash.
