A Louisville resident was fatally injured as a result of a crash over the weekend.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 46-year-old Brandon D. Harmon was the person fatally injured. The crash happened on the Dieterich/Clay City Blacktop at 400th Avenue, south of Dieterich near the Effingham-Jasper county line. The crash was reported at 7:40pm Saturday.

Deputies report Harmon's motorcycle and a vehicle driven by 68-year-old Ivan Shamhart of Wheeler were southbound on the blacktop. Shamhart began to turn left onto 400th Avenue and Harmon's cycle struck the back of the Shamhart vehicle.

Harmon was taken from the scene to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, then was transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he died. Local authorities were notified of Harmon's death about 4am Sunday.

Shamhart was not reported injured in the crash.
