Fire at Quad Graphics Saturday

Effingham Firefighters were called to Quad Graphic at 1200 West Niccum Avenue at approximately 3:35 Saturday afternoon.  

A fire that began in a paper shredder, then spread thru the vac system, to two cyclones, then to a bag house, and finally to two balers. Fire and smoke damage occured in all of those units. 

After the evacuation of employees, 33 firefighters were on scene for five hours using 11,000 gallon of water to extinguish fire. 

Effingham, Teutopolis, Watson, and Shumway Fire Departments were all on scene. While Altamont Fire Department covered Effingham Station 3 and St. Elmo and Montrose Departments covered Effingham Station 1.
