Cumberland school board members voted at this month's meeting to move ahead with a grade school bathroom addition project.

The Board first voted to direct their architect, The Upchurch Group, to proceed with job specifications, bid specs and advertisement of bid requests for the addition project with Upchurch being paid 9% of the project cost.

That motion passed, but then a subsequent motion was made that Upchurch be paid 10% of the project cost. The previous motion was rescinded and a new motion passed with the new figure.

The Cumberland board also posted an open position of Paraprofessional, agreed to employ Norene Ault as high school head girls track coach, and voted to grant Marjori Comer a leave of absence without pay through February 28, 2020.

Cumberland board members heard that parent/teacher conferences are taking place today and on Thursday. The Board also approved high school baccalaureate and graduation on May 19, with baccalaureate at 2pm.

The Board approved an asbestos abatement contract with Environmental Consultants, purchased a pickup truck through the State purchasing contract, approved a contract with Hospital Sisters Health Systems for athletic trainer services, and approved the lease for two gasoline 27-passenger special education buses.
