The Effingham Dog Park Community has kicked off a “Bark Madness” naming competition to determine the name of a planned dog park.

Name ideas are being received through February 10. Submissions can be made by messaging the Facebook page, Effingham Dog Park Community Project, at www.facebook.com/effinghamdogpark.

Submissions will be narrowed down by the Dog Park planning committee to 32 for the bracket style voting competition. Five rounds of voting will occur before the final winner is chosen. The contest will conclude on March 24 and the name will be revealed at a kick-off event soon after.

The Effingham Dog Park is an idea being brought to life through the Effingham Park District and the Vibrant Economy Impact Team of Impact 2030. The Effingham Park District is providing close to two acres in Evergreen Hollow Park. The Park District will continue maintenance of the park once the project is complete. The Vibrant Economy Team of Impact 2030 has been involved with the design plans and will assist with fundraising.
